Logo Design and Branding for a new local Santa Cruz, CA business. The client, Restoring Resilience, was looking for a unique design that conveyed the essence of a strong oak and an undulating spirit being born anew. Combining elements of a simple acorn shape and undulating wave that lends to the feeling of a rising phoenix produced a beautiful logo mark and branding kit provided to the client for assorted materials.

Auntie’s Grooming contacted us with a logo design that was nearly finished and a concern about how to utilize it in multiple formats. We took the logo through a bit of refinement, adjusting kerning and adding some additional elements to complete the look you currently see.
For this project, we printed and installed vinyl stickers on their business door, created a hanging sign overhead, created multiple hand-painted elements, and some printable marketing pieces.
The outdoor shed was transformed into a marketing billboard of sorts. Shown here with a custom hand-painted silhouette of a dog and cat to represent just a few of the animals they care for and paired with a custom chalkboard illustration to ring in the new year.
The hanging overhead sign and 4-foot round interior circle cutout use alu-panel with their logo hand-painted directly on the material. This material is a light and durable option for interior or exterior signage.

We were tasked with building our followers on Facebook and through the community. We decided to do a local branding push for our two stores by the beach and I created a design to be used on our Facebook landing page and catering van as well as custom printed reusable shopping bags.
These bags sold like hot cakes and we couldn’t keep them stocked in the store no matter how many we ordered. Our online presence doubled within the month and to this day you still see these notable tote bags in the community market or blanket side at the beach!

Album, cover art and promotional items created for a local band - Hank and Ella with the Fine Country Band
For this project, the band wanted to create a style that was reminiscent of older country/folk albums. I met with the band, gathered references and set to work. The band provided some photos which I needed to retouch and edit - for example, the main image had the guitarist on the left a few feet away from the rest of the group.
At the bottom of the page, you will see the original front cover photo. I altered the images for better composition that would complement the group as a whole.
The LP, I created in Illustrator as a vector image to mock the look of a true vinyl LP. Typography and layout were selected to compliment the band’s style and not distract by being overly flashy.
These were sent to the printers for CD production, the CD was made to look like an LP, and the image at the top was created for the band to place on their promotional posters pushing their new album release.
The last image shows some mock-up layouts and faux record label branding designs, a wish list item to be executed by the band in the future.
I do enjoy taking photographs and my time as the Creative Lead allowed for me to take photos used for social media posts. Here are some of my favorites.
These items were used to promote products and events on Social Media, Digital Screens as well as a mockup for a webpage registration header.
This item was created for a podcast production company. The design needed to communicate what this company does. A full process of recording to the final edit for multiple types of audio content, by combining a more retro version of the microphone with audio waves, sharing the companies’ initials and sound production headphones illustrates the process is full circle for this podcasting and audio drama company.

Julie was invited to Chicago to participate in the Pre-Vinylettes All Women’s Hand Painted Sign Show. Two pieces were submitted: THINK *Gray Area and 1 SHOT CAN LIGHT.
Gray Area Piece: A three stacked convex monochromatic hand painted piece painted with 1 Shot Lettering Enamel, hung with metal springs and fixture.
1 SHOT CAN LIGHT: A replica of a 1 Shot Lettering Enamel can, painted with Flat Oil Spray and 1 Shot Lettering Enamel. As a homage to growing up with relatives who work in lighting factories, this piece was turned into a working light to give the art piece extra purpose and meaning.

Original artwork, hand drawn and digitized for a group mountain unicycle meet up and ride event in Southern California. The event occurs around Halloween so I decided to create a Day of the Dead (Dîa de los Muertos) style skull featuring the California State flower, the poppy, and combine it with notable unicycles as the eyes, where the seat merge to the nose and then the prominent main unicycle puts unicycling on your brain, literally, and the chin is accented by a modified seat. All the elements are tied together using common Dîa de los Muertos accents and colors. This design was a hit with the community and placed on shirts, mugs, stickers, buttons, and posters.
The process explained, images below…
1) I had the idea for this design so I mocked up a rough sketch, initially, I thought not to have a chin and use 2018 as the teeth and the seat as the top jawline
2) I gathered some reference and started to use my existing vector art to begin the layout process
3) I had the overall design together, created an image and sent it off to myself in procreate to sketch while traveling
4) I decided on eat state flower and wanted to use the tradition of flowers in the eye sockets as a focal point accentuating the tire eyes.
5) The next series of images are the process photos taking the procreate sketch and digitizing to vector while modifying elements, adding and deleting some as well as choosing colors
6) Deciding on a type style for the event name was easier this go around. I decided between three styles, hand-drawn script, a more squared off font and the stylized one which I modified to the end result.
After cleaning all the artwork, the design then was set up for the printer for multiple uses but the main one would be t-shirts for the day of the ride.
